History
The Early Years
1980 — Tecsar is founded, capitalizing on opportunity and entrepreneurial vision.
1981 — International marketing and technical recruitment efforts begin.
1982 — Early project wins in Building Systems, Architecture, and HVAC set the tone for practical, multidisciplinary delivery.
Laying the Foundation
1983 — First corporate office opens at the Chemway Building on Vidal Street — Leadership culture begins to take shape.
1986 — Tecsar is awarded its first Standing Miscellaneous Engineering Services Contract — laying a stable foundation for future growth.
1987 — Inaugural Tecsar golf tournament kicks off a company tradition.
Momentum Builds
1990 — Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are introduced — formalizing our commitment to Continuous Improvement.
1991 — CN Rail building purchased and revitalized — establishing headquarters on the St. Clair River.
1992 — Tecsar FEL (Front-End Loading) Design Teams gain recognition as best-in-class across industrial clients.
Systems, Safety & Scale
2003 — Ohio & Michigan engineering licenses obtained — Tecsar expands into the U.S. market.
2008 — Tecsar 2 facility acquired to support a growing engineering team and workload.
2010 — Launch of robust QA/QC and Process Safety Management frameworks — embedding lifecycle quality and risk mitigation into every project.
2012 — Systems for control, reporting, and single input synergy to open up further Continuous Improvement initiatives
2019 - TEI 2020 launched. Reflection on strong foundation since 1980, is paired with an injection of focus into current service needs, across various market sectors.
Engineering Forward
2021 — Growing demand for FEL, Engineering Field Services, and green energy design fuels expansion into diverse and technology-integrated markets.
2024 — Tecsar establishes a European presence with the formation of the Waterman Tecsar Alliance — an engineering partnership headquartered in Cork, Ireland, delivering specialized brownfield and multidiscipline services to the life science, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, specialty chemical, and brewery distillation sectors. The Alliance offers responsive, right-sized solutions across Ireland and Europe, leveraging our strong quality systems and North American project experience.
